Two delivery platforms have sued Thailand’s Trade Competition Commission over draft rules on the commissions they charge merchants, Thaiger reported.

The draft covers ride-hailing and on-demand delivery platforms. They would have to show how their gross-profit commissions are calculated, and give reasons and evidence whenever they raise them. The platforms argue the draft exceeds the commission’s legal powers; the commission says it is not trying to control prices.

The suits were reported on 2 November. A competition-law lecturer at NIDA said higher commissions do not automatically break the law and that any intervention should rest on preliminary evidence and be proportionate.
