Editorial standards

Last updated 26 October 2026

The Bangkok Guide is written for people visiting, moving to or living in Thailand. These are the standards every page is held to.

What we cover

Practical guides (entry rules, money, renting, getting around, safety), discussions led by the people we interview, condo and house tours, what's on, and the day's news that matters to visitors and expats. We don't cover general politics or crime unless it changes what a visitor or resident should do.

Accuracy

Fairness

Independence and sponsors

Sponsors and partners are always labelled, at most one per page, and never see or change what we write. No one can pay to be covered. How each sponsor fits is on the Recommended page.

Dates and updates

Every guide shows when it was last updated, and living guides keep a dated list of what changed. News stories keep the date they were published; when an ongoing story moves on, a new story is published and the background is updated.

Guidance, not advice

Pages on visas, tax, property and health explain how things work so you can act on them. They are general guidance, not legal, tax or medical advice for your situation. The terms have the full wording.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it on the page and log it on the corrections page. To report an error: hello@thebangkokguide.org.
